Tuccia Di Capri

May 10th, 2010

The owner of Tuccia Di Capri.

Henri Bendel.  2 words, “Sweet Bliss.”  I manage to always find something (reasonably priced of course because many things are very expensive in there) in this 4 level department store.  This time, I found the Italian designer footwear called Tuccia Di Capri.  The made-to-measure sandals are fitted to your exact feet measurements (including where your big toe sits on the sole, where your heels place on the sole, and how wide your feet are.  The best part is that you can select your own style of shoe & adorn them with a variety of gemstones if you wish.

As I was getting fitted for my very first pair, I selected the snakeskin straps and opted the gemstones.  I thought it would be a bit much and I didn’t want to overdo it.  The master cobbler assembled it within 45 minutes.  It was quick!  Now I’m ready for summer!

Cupcakes, cupcakes, and more cupcakes.

My favorite cupcakes are baked by Cake Creations….they are to die for!  It’s moist and full of flavor…yummm. And this Saturday (April 17th), they’re giving away free cupcakes.  Yes, FREE!  The only catch–you’ll have to get them from their bakery in Manoa.  But it’s worth the drive.

My Olympic Dream

March 17th, 2010

Since I was a child, I always wanted to go to the Olympics.  Who knew that I would be so lucky to actually get that chance!  I went to the 2010 Winter Olympics with my friend Clarissa (She’s training for the 2012 summer Olympics in London!) to watch Apolo Anton Ohno skate in the 1000m speed skating.  Let me tell you, it was an experience I’ll never forget!  It’s incredible to witness these athletes perform at what they do best…it’ll never be the same watching it on television.  You’ve got to put this on your ‘to-do’ list!

Go Team USA!

With glowing hearts…

Team USA warming up before their event.

Look at the crowd at the Pacific Coliseum (this is where the speed skating event was held).  It was a full house.

On our way to watch the Women’s Snowboard Half Pipe at Cypress Mountain.  (Clarissa’s at the far right)

The beginning of our journey…we needed to walk up hundreds of stairs just to watch the snowboarding event. We worked out our legs all day…bathrooms & concession is located at the bottom of these stairs.

The women are warming up before the event.

There’s a million and one things to do during the Olympics.  There are free activities & FREE swag for everyone. The only problem…you typically had to wait in line.  And, it could take anywhere from an 1-5 hours!  This is Live City.  We went to the Coca Cola house to get a free Coke bottle made just for the Olympics!

Thanks Clarissa!  We were guests to the Team USA house where we got to eat & drink for free all day and everyday.  In addition, we got to meet Olympic athletes!  I was lucky to meet Vera Wang my last night in Vancouver.  She designed figure skater Evan Lysacek’s costume.

I finally made it.

Butter Lane…

I’m delighted to tell you that I finally made it to Butter Lane (123 East 7th St).  I needed to find out for myself if their cupcakes was everything  and more that I was hearing from all the critics.  Do you think it was??

This is the best selling cupcake Butter Lane has to offer.  The Elvis is made from banana with peanut butter–2 of my favorite flavors.

Take a look for yourself!  It’s at the top.

Here’s a worker showing off the cupcakes that were freshly baked…YUM.

These two loved their cupcakes as well.  We also got to share some of our other favorite cupcake destinations in NYC.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

Dylan’s Candy Bar

Located on the Upper East side is Bloomingdale’s & Dylan’s Candy Bar.  I love their gummi bears.  They’re to die for!

Who says this is a place for kids?  Dylan’s has a million and one candy choices.  I usually have a difficult time deciding.

However…I don’t have to think twice about Dylan’s gummi bears!  They’re my all-time favorites.  I love the watemelon, passion fruit, cherry, apple, orange, pineapple, & other flavors.  There’s something about them..the bears are the perfect size, they’re juicy, & chewy.

Erin got a bag of gummi bears!
