Bronx is a 10 month old Tibetan Spaniel that hangs out at DOLCE about twice a week.  He’s getting ready for his television debut on KHON 2 this Friday for the Price Buster segment for Halloween costumes for dogs (he’ll be a bee that day).

Morra Designs is one of my favorite jewelry designer from NYC.  Her one of a kind jewelry designs make every outfit feel special…it truly does.  

Sometimes the best stuff requires you to spend some dough on accessories but it’s worth every penny…believe me, it’ll polish your outfit.  All of Morra’s jewelry is handmade in Manhattan and made from 18kt gold vermeil…it simply means that it’s partially made from real gold so it’s affordable.  

Why I gotta have it…to clean the collection, polish it with a silver polish cloth when dirty and store in a zip lock bag when not using.  Eventually, you’ll need them redipped but don’t fret.  It’s FREE!

Farmer’s Market

 

Besides fashion, food is another passion of mine.  On my recent trip to NYC, my girlfriends and I visited Union Square’s Farmer’s Market located between 14th Street and Broadway.  And then we headed to one of my all-time favorite store…Anthropologie (located at 85th Fifth Ave, between 15th & 16th).  

The farmer’s market is perfect for stocking up on fruits and vegetables as well as donuts, fresh milk, flowers, and other specialty items.  Instead of fighting our temptation, we purchased bags filled with fruits and vegetables to take with us while we traveled.  I don’t know if anyone could leave empty handed.  And, everything is sold for ‘dirt cheap.’  You just can’t resist!

  I can’t remember the names of these plums, but they were yummy!  The street vendors slice all the plums so you can do a little sampling before you commit to your purchase.  How sweet and juicy they all were..the green one, the purple one, and the red one..

 

 

 

 

 

Oh and these apples were delicious too!  I purchased a couple of the red ones (the ones closest to the green apples) and I just fell in love with them.  They were ripe and crunchy! 

I’ve never seen these before but there’s a booth that sells ‘cider donuts.’  They looked like they were freshly baked, but I can’t tell you how they tasted because my friend Jan forgot to share them with us!  She was kind enough to report back that they were yummy…boo hoo.

Look at all the people sampling the various fresh squeezed juice!  All the vendors believe in sampling so you know what you’re buying.  And believe me, it worked!

Beirn It In.

If you’re afraid of wearing too much color, you can still follow this fall’s trends with Beirn’s elastic headbands.  These can also become you’re quick fix for those lazy days when you want nothing to do with your hair or when you have a bad haircut.  We’ve all experienced it!  And, the elastic headbands are my favorite because they don’t hurt your head like some of the wire ones.

 

 

 

 

 

  There are many ways to use an elastic headband.  My favorite is pulling my hair in a bun and using the headband for a dash of color (and, to hold down    my baby hair).  You can also use it with your hair down as the classic  headband or wear it like flappers do!

 

 

 

 

 

 

How to achieve this look…

The trick to keeping the elastic headband in place is to add a little body. Grab a small section of the top portion of your hair and begin to comb towards the root to create small tangles.  The height all depends on what your prefer.  Complete the process gradually as you can damage your hair.  At the end of the day, you can shampoo and conditioner to undo the tangles.  It’s so simple!

They’re selling like hot cakes!  Matt Bernson’s WAVERLY just got a face lift and it’s better than ever!  The ballet flats have been redesigned (inside and out) to pamper your feet throughout the day…when you slip one on, you’ll find a padded sole and a cushion for the back of your foot so it doesn’t give you any blisters.  To top it off, it’s adorned with gold studs on the back of the shoe to keep you in style.  These are a great addition to your shoe collection…oh la la.

I had dinner at Otto for my last night in the city…there were so many places I wanted to eat and this was one of them.  This fabulous Italian style restaurant is known for their amazing pizza and incredible pasta dishes.  Everything on the menu was absolutely satisfying; hands down.  

When you walk through the restaurant, it almost feels like you’re in Italy dining with your friends and family. It’s a perfect place to dine for party of two and large enough for parties of ten or more.  And, it’s children friendly!  Definitely mark this on your map.

 

 

Say ‘cheese!’  Karli, Jan, Nadine, and I just stuffed ourselves.  Our next stop, McGovern’s Bar…

 

The pizzeria serves a variety of pizza, pasta, and salads.  I loved everything; however, the pasta dish (located in the back left) which consists of spinach and sausage was everyone’s favorite dish and apparently Rachel Ray’s too.  Honestly, you can’t go wrong on any of their selections.  You’ve got to try them all!

 

 

 

Boy, were we stuffed (as you can see)! You can also try some of Otto’s sister restaurants like Babbo, Lupa, and Tartine.
