half full.

April 27th, 2011 — 1:02pm

the temperature’s been rising in the high 80′s and it’s only a matter of time that you’ll be wanting to wear pieces that are lightweight and not so clingy.  the first thing that comes to my mind is fluxus.  they’re known for their flowy tops that are paralleled with this season’s fashion trends.  i’ve got a drawer or two filled with their tops…

it’s official, my friend jan and i have scheduled our appointment to cut our rapunzel like hair in three weeks.  three weeks!  i’ll have to find other ways to manage my hair in the meantime.  one of the styles i love is the fishtail.  i often get asked how i braid my fishtail so i thought i would create a video to share.  it’s not by any means high quality but you’ll get the picture.

{first split your hair into two equal sections.  grab a small amount from the right section and cross it over to the left side.  then, grab another small amount from the left section and cross it over to the right.  keep repeating until finished.  note:  the smaller the portion, the smaller the fishtail.}

off days.

April 26th, 2011 — 6:19pm

i always go straight to my graphic tee and blazer on my days off when i’m running around like a chicken trying to get everything accomplished.  i’m dressed in between; not too casual yet it’s not quite business attire.  and besides, i love a challenge by mixing different prints and textures together.  whether it’s a tee and a blazer or a dress and a scarf, there’s always a thrill in creating an outfit with pieces from your closet.

your every move.

April 25th, 2011 — 7:46pm

if you travel as much as i do, you’ll know that having a pair of jeans is a necessity no matter where you’re going.  if you don’t, you’ll need another pair in your closet.  it’s a basic!  it’s often difficult to find a pair that fits but you don’t have to think twice about black orchid jeggings.  these are one of my ‘must-have’ items in my carry-on….it’s my bestie when i’m away from home.  they stretch with your every move but they don’t stretch out.  even better, they won’t shrink when you accidentally over dry them on high heat.  these jeggings go with everything; from your favorite tee and blazer to your off the shoulder top with ballet flats.

photo diary.

April 25th, 2011 — 3:11pm

there’s no question that i’m a girl who lives in her tees.  and why not?  they’re comfy, easy, & just what you need for those lazy days.  i’ve been obsessed wearing them with my collection of bralettes and bandeaus for the recent heat wave we’ve been having.  here’s a photo diary of some of my favorite tees (and i snuck my new love in there too..monaco dress by nation).

meet the designer.

April 22nd, 2011 — 10:41am

{meet the designer} joie jager.  born and raised in california.  lives in nyc…where her heart is of course.  loves the beach but jewelry is her passion.

joie as in ‘joey’ reminds me of your cool surfer girl that lives next door but has all the “too die for” jewelry in her closet.  her jewelry could wardrobe your outfits every day of the year without recycling a piece twice….holy smokes.  she’s one the most coveted jewelry designer as every piece is designed by herself and no two are exactly alike.  she has an eclectic assortment that will make you go gaga with the ‘ohs and ahs’ for hours….take a peak at some of the new pieces.

alabaster it is.

April 21st, 2011 — 8:48pm

i’ve been in and out of stores searching for a new pair of espadrilles and i’ve finally found my favorite pair to date.  matt bernson pique is thee shoe to have this tropical season.  what a perfect shoe to accessorize with your maxi dresses for the full bohemian effect (how about gypsy 05 lulu maxi dress)!  and let’s not forget about the skinny jeans, tunics, & cut off shorts.  an added bonus…these espadrilles are not only going to have your friends do a double take, but they’ll feel like pillows on your feet.

peak-a-boo cardi.

April 20th, 2011 — 4:45am

i’ve got a sweater collection as high as mount rushmore and it keeps growing.  it doesn’t help when babakul recently launched their summer karen v neck cardi.  but can you blame me for expanding my sweater collection…i don’t think so.  there are many reasons why i’ve fallen head over heels for this.  for starters, i’m obsessed with the peak-a-boo fabrication that makes me feel feminine when i slip it on.  then there’s the dolman sleeve.  i’ve always thought this style had a little personality.  and i just love cardigans!

grey to black.

April 17th, 2011 — 9:37pm

labradorite is frequently unnoticed as it can often appear dull but if you look closer, you’ll see a colorful assortment of lights.  and sometimes you’ll see an iridescent sheen that gives it a natural glow.  it’s something you just got to have in your collection of accessories…
